Identify Visitors with Name Tags

Color-coded name tags are a good option for identifying guests or temporary employees authorized to be in a specific area of a building.

Name tags can be more than the “Hello, my name is” stickers that you’re forced to wear at conferences and parties. They can be a cost-efficient option in a guest management plan for a business that frequently has visitors or temporary employees. You can use color-coded name tags, self-expiring name tags, or even simple stickers to ensure the safety of your employees and be able to identify visitors at a glance.

Name tags alone do not constitute a security system. They can be duplicated fairly easily. You wouldn’t want any employee or staff member to assume that anyone with a name tag had been approved for entry into your building or grounds. However, if security is not a big concern, an inexpensive name tag identifying guests and making them aware that they are being monitored will suffice.

Color-coded name tags are a good option for identifying guests or temporary employees authorized to be in a specific area of a building. This is especially useful if you have a visitor check-in station or an office in a complex. Some offices may have additional security log-in protocols. Self-expiring name tags give added protection by flagging people who are only supposed to be in your building for a specified period of time.

If you do not want to use name tags, you might consider wristbands. If you are carding people to determine whether they are old enough to drink alcohol, they might prefer to wear wristbands instead of a sticker on their clothes or a clipping on a badge. Also, children inclined to play with or remove stickers or badges would do better with safe, non-removable wristbands for identification purposes.
